When our squirrel patients are nearing release, they receive a squirrel box like this one. 

Inside it, they begin to build a nest from the enrichment items we provide for them, such as leaves and newspaper. When they are released, they are released with their box so that they have a home to start out from. Within a few weeks, they abandon the box and build a drey of their own. 

Annually, the Wildlife Rescue Center treats over 400 squirrels. We go through a lot of squirrel boxes every year as you can imagine!
